Simple Ways to Make Your Self-Care Go Deeper

You booked the appointment. You showed up for yourself. And for a little while, it felt really good. But somewhere between the drive home and the third load of laundry, that feeling was gone.

Here’s what I notice with a lot of moms that I work with: they’re showing up for themselves and still feel depleted. And that makes sense, because self-care is important but it wasn’t designed to reach what’s underneath the exhaustion. The mental load you’re carrying, the self-doubt, and the guilt that creeps in when you’re doing something for yourself- those need something different.

That said, here are a few things that you can try at your next appointment to feel more present and get more out of it. Before you walk in, pick one word that captures what you need. For example: rest, release or reset. It gives your mind something to focus on instead of spinning on everything waiting for you at home. Leave your phone in your bag- not just on silent, but actually out of reach. One appointment fully unplugged gives your nervous system a real break. When you leave, sit in your car for two minutes without checking your phone before you shift back into the day. That’s where the good feeling gets anchored. And if at any point you caught yourself thinking “I shouldn’t be here right now,” write that down. That thought is worth paying attention to. Awareness is where the work starts.

I’m a Transformational Life Coach who works with moms who are tired of feeling like they’re keeping it together on the outside while running out of steam on the inside. When we work together, we go deeper than the surface stuff. We work through the mental load, the guilt, and the self-trust you’ve lost along the way, and we build the kind of inner foundation that makes you feel like yourself again, not just for an afternoon, but consistently.
